On July 11, 1998, the Fire Squad of Police Department of Tainan County Government was reorganized and renamed Fire Department of Tainan County Government, in charge of firefighting affairs in the county. Due to social transformations in recent years, development of new urban styles, construction of high-rise buildings, density of factories, establishment of high-tech enterprises, and rapid changes of people’s consumption patterns, citizens began to feel the threat of potential danger to their lives and properties. To protect citizens from such dangers, it is our duty to make proper plans for the prevention of fire, rescue work and emergency aid in case of disasters, which are integrated and interwoven with communication and technology to become a modern fire prevention network, to ensure the safety of life and properties of citizens in the county.

With industrial and commercial development and change, all potential hazards have been increasing. A mere negligence could result in a major disaster. It is the policy of our fire prevention system to free people from fear and complaint. Concrete implementation of this policy will be a maintenance of public security.

To maintain a sound fire prevention system, the county magistrate officially set up the Fire Department of this County on July 11, 1998, which shall be in charge of fire prevention, disaster rescue and emergency aid activities. In the future, in the performance of our missions in the prevention against disaster and remedial measures in case of disaster, we shall demonstrate government power in thorough implementation of all laws, regulations and policies, and shall intensify business operators and people’s awareness in the prevention of disasters, make sure they observe standard operational procedures, set up a location self-defensive fire prevention system, awaken people’s awareness in the prevention against disasters by way of educational programs for the sake of residential safety, set up the concepts of safety and community, so that the public can join hands in the construction of multiple preventive systems, so that all people can enjoy safe, comfortable and healthy new living space.

In the future, the Fire Department shall enthusiastically commit to provide service to the general public, working towards the goal of “pro-active, swift, high performance and high quality” to set up a fire prevention team worthy of reliance from all citizens.
